About Pete
Peter Soucy has been writing, acting, designing, and directing for stage, radio, and television since 1986. A graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, he taught high school Visual Arts for several years. FLUX, the most successful of his four stage-plays, has been published, performed in several provinces and states, and adapted for television.
Peter won a Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council Award in 1985, co-founded Day Job Theatre in 1987, and won the Kari Award for best performance in a Canadian television commercial in 1996. He served as Artistic Director of Rebel Island Theatre and the NaGeira Theatre Festival in Carbonear from 2000 to 2002.
Recent work includes roles in Above and Beyond (Pope Productions/CBC), Young Triffie, and Legends and Lore. Best know for his St. John's corner-boy character SNOOK, Peter is currently involved in producing the St. John's Comedy Festival in June of 2007.
